Batterers Intervention Group
Each male offender who is accepted as a participant of the Batterers Intervention Group will then begin a 26 week program that will include 52 group sessions and individual sessions when appropriate. The Batterers Intervention Group meets every Monday and Wednesday evening from 6:00pm to 7:30pm and is facilitated by two co-facilitators, Michael M Furey, BS, CCJP, CSAPC and Ms. Holly Wilson, M.Ed, LPC.
The batterer’s intervention group program will be for male batterers only and each offender must successfully complete a total 78 hours of individual and group sessions. When individual counseling is deemed appropriate, Ms. Holly Wilson, LPC, will then provide that service. Female offenders can be referred to the Domestic Violence Accountability Program but for individual counseling sessions only.
Anger Management Counseling
Aggressive, passive, passive-aggressive, and many kinds of depressive anger behaviors can be huge problems and contribute major stress, disruption and dysfunction in family relationship. All behavior is learned, and what is learned can be unlearned. Regardless of how you were taught to react when you are angry, you can learn how to recognize and change aggressive behaviors. You can learn to respond to difficult situations in different and healthy ways.
Aftercare Services
The goal of aftercare is to support a person’s abstinence from previous alcohol and other drug use or abuse, or a return to abusive behavior, after primary care through relapse prevention services. Aftercare is the stage following more intensive services and is meant to help achieve and maintain recovery.
